Talking about Parallel ports on old computers

Just talking about when I use to use these ports and what these ports did. I have not seen parallel ports on new computers. They use USB and other ways now. But I was just bringing out what this was used for.  

Cable: Usually up to 25 wires including ground; optionally shielded

Pins: 8 data, 4 output control, 5 input control, 8 ground

Connector: DB-25, DB25F, "Centronics" 36-pin Amphenol, DC-37, others

Designed: 1970–1981

Width: Variable

Protocol: Application dependent

Signal: 0 to +5.0 volt DC
